Dual Language Immersion (DLI) at Sky View High School

Welcome to the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Sky View High School! At our school, students have the opportunity to continue their studies in Portuguese, building on the strong foundation established in elementary school. Our program is designed to help students advance their language skills, deepen cultural understanding, and prepare for future academic success in their target language.

What Does the High School Pathway Look Like?

At the end of 9th grade, students are encouraged to take the AP Language Exam to demonstrate their language proficiency.

Students who pass the AP Language Exam can enroll in 3000-level university courses known as The Bridge Project, earning both high school and college credit.

These advanced courses help students deepen their language skills and cultural understanding while gaining valuable college credits.

Who is eligible? Any student (DLI or non-DLI) who passes the AP Language Exam can participate in Bridge Project courses.

Why Continue DLI in High School?

Continuing in the DLI program allows students to:

  • Strengthen their language proficiency.
  • Deepen their understanding of the target culture.
  • Prepare for high school courses, including advanced placement (AP) exams and university-level Bridge Project courses.
  • Gain skills that promote global citizenship and future career opportunities.

Target Languages Offered at Green Canyon

Students should enroll in the program that aligns with their elementary and middle school DLI language track and continue through the designated middle and high school locations.
